First Seascapes of the Seasons

Summer's gone and the cold weather is moving in. But while the weather was pleasant enough to venture outside without a third coat, I made a trip through South County to shoot my first seascapes of the season. First up was Matunuck beach on a cold and windy day. Even though sunset was a couple hours away, the cloudy conditions reduced the sunlight enough to allow me to shoot some long exposures....

Foggy Matunuck, and Some Surf

Spent the last week down in Matunuck as friends were moving out of their rentals and the summer residents began moving back in. ACCEPTED! Westerly Exhibition

East Matunuck Kitesurfing

Breezy conditions this week meant for some windsurfing and kitesurfing activity out on the water, which I hadn't seen for some time. Of course the warm 65 degrees didn't hurt at all! I headed to East Matunuck State Beach for the first time since I was about 10 years old, with memories of waves full of seaweed and ruthless rip currents. Rhode Island Seascapes Holga Film

I received a plastic camera for Christmas, a Holga 120N. It's beautifully simple to use and takes a lot of the thinking and over-thinking out of photography. It reduces the photographer to pure artist creating art: observe, aim, capture. Of course, because of its lack of bells and whistles, exposures might not quite be what you expected.
