More Film from San Francisco

More Film from San Francisco

February 01, 2011

Just got some film back from the lab, more cross processing.  Some of it is from last fall, some great shots from San Francisco.  I haven't gotten through everything yet but here's three images I just edited and figured I'd share.  Love them!  The cross processing on this batch isn't over-dramatic, but definitely adds an interesting element which I thoroughly enjoy.

Going to reorganize my external hard drive over the next couple of days.  I have folders from 5 years back or so, no uniform naming conventions on folders or files, stuff all over the place.  I really want to have a nice clean archive and accessible final edits and websize edits.  So that'll be a bit of a project.

My website is going to be reconstructed soon as well!  Waiting until after I archive my hard drive and images, then going to make my web portfolio even better!!!  Stay tuned.

These two were from the Conservatory of Flowers in the Golden Gate Park out on the West Coast.

This amazing Buddha was in the Japanese Tea Gardens in the Golden Gate Park as well.

I've been wanting to shoot more portraits lately, but in combination with the surf community that I've been so involved with the past year.  My good friend, Kevin Tanner, behind Soudnings Surf Co creates some gorgeous handcrafted boards.  He does all his own shaping, resin work, and glassing, and I wanted to photograph some beautiful boards to highlight his craftsmanship as well as portraits of my friends who ride them.  I decided to do board portraits.

A lot of us enjoy the warm weather, but a select few of us still enjoy (or perhaps tolerate) the cold weather.  And nothing quite says winter like a fresh snowfall!  On the rare occasion Rhode Island experiences more than one inch of snow while there's swell in the water, you can find a select few of dedicated riders on the shore eager to have a snow session.

Winter Aerials

Some days I just don't feel like swimming.  Some days I don't feel like shooting with a 7lb telephoto setup on the beach.  Those days are perfectly suited for drone shots, should the wind be accommodating enough.

I've only had a couple drone flights this winter, one during a sunny but cold morning at the beach, and a second during a slightly windier day at Point Judith lighthouse. It's always a refreshing perspective!
