Green Hill #3 and a New Lens

Green Hill. A stretch of Rhode Island beach along the southern shores crowded with empty summer condos and beach houses. This little spot will have surf every now and again, and on a clear day you can see Block Island on the horizon. It's nice to have a place of solitude, but this visit was on one of our unseasonably warm days, about 50 degrees in the middle of January. I wasn't alone as there...

Foggy Point Judith - Black & White Conversion

Fifty degree weather in the middle of January tends to lead to foggy situations. I decided to venture out early one morning to see if I could catch some sea smoke with a great sunrise, but instead I was greeted with the thickest fog I had seen in quite a long time. First it was to this little spot along Route 1A for some of the surf. The surf was up to about 5+ with a nice offshore breeze but a lot of the usual places were pretty crowded, so a few friends of mine used...

Beavertail at Low Tide: Photo Critique

It seems I've forgotten about Jamestown a lot recently. I'll either be shooting in South County or in Newport, but not very much on the island in between. One of the greatest spots on the island is Beavertail Lighthouse, a popular stop for tourists, locals, photographers and the like. I remember going to Beavertail with the family when I was little to watch the storms blow in. Last year I captured...
