It's been hard to go droning this month. With all the snow and nor'easters, plus regular windy days and cold temperatures, windows for aerial drone flights have been slim. But just the other day the skies were clear, and the winds were low enough for me to take a sunset drone flight in Beavertail with my 3DR Solo and GoPro Hero 4 Black.
I have photographed Beavertail Light before but I wanted to do a different kind of coastal exploration up the rocky shoreline instead. I situated myself on the western side of the point as the sun sank lower in the sky, and as the light got more and more dramatic, so did the shadows and formations of the shale bluffs below.
As I was going through the shots on the computer, admiring the naturally occurring turquoise and orange, I couldn't help but feel like I was getting a glimpse into some prehistoric past. It was more than just sunset colored portraits of rocks. It came to life as so much more
