Polar Freeze

Well I learned a new term this January, "Polar Vortex." That's right, a vortex of circulating polar air that sat right on top of most of North American for over a week. It was cold. It was windy. It snowed. Did I mention it was cold? While I mostly tried to keep all of my appendages in working order, I did manage to go outside a couple of times to photograph. Ruggles - Last Swell of 2013

Just before the new year, some swell arrived. Brought on by a cold storm this time, instead of the warm tropical moisture that had been visiting regularly all November and part of December. I hadn't visited Sakonnet since my junior sailing days back in high school when a couple of Laser events were hosted out of Sakonnet...

Early Morning Chill

It's been a chilly December thus far, and luckily we've actually had some snow! I have a hard time appreciating frigid conditions unless there is some fluffy white snow to beautify the scenery. While it's only been a couple of dustings so far, I'm still glad to have a proper winter compared to a couple years ago when there was no snow to speak of. I made my way to a couple of Wickford locations...
