Winter Aerials

Some days I just don't feel like swimming.  Some days I don't feel like shooting with a 7lb telephoto setup on the beach.  Those days are perfectly suited for drone shots, should the wind be accommodating enough.   I've only had a couple drone flights this winter, one during a sunny but cold morning at the beach, and a second during a slightly windier day at Point Judith lighthouse. Aerials & Stars at Point Judith Light

The skies have cleared!  It finally feels like winter has departed and made way for spring (if not summer).  By mid-month we had several days of calm skies, light breezes, and plenty of sun.  I took the opportunity to venture to Point Judith Lighthouse one Friday afternoon with fellow photographer Kat Carney. Last year I had photographed it on a peaceful afternoon and waited through dusk. This time, I rose with the sun and got to the lighthouse just in time to photograph it in the earliest morning light possible. The dramatic change in...

Nantucket // Day 1

Nantucket. It's not a terribly small island, but it's not terribly big either. Sitting 30 miles offshore of Massachusetts, it faces due south to the open sea. The eastern most point of Massachusetts is on Nantucket, and if you sailed south into the Atlantic, the next point of land you'd cross is in the Caribbean. The island is steeped in history, from the native americans to the whaling industry...
